Short-Term Rental Registration and Renewal Applications
Effective July 1, 2025 the City transitioned online systems. This is a new portal and first time users must register an account to submit an application online. Step-by step instructions are available and the Licensing Administrator is available to assist during hours of operations.
NEW ONLINE APPLICATION & PAYMENT PORTAL
A completed application is due every year along with payment. Please be sure to attach any required information (i.e., proof of insurance, floor plan, etc) with your application. Licenses are not able to be issued the same day the application is received.
Checks may be made out to City of South Portland. Please do not mail cash. Mailed to:
Office of the City Clerk
Attn: Licensing Administrator
25 Cottage Road
South Portland, ME 04106
Once the application is received, applications typically take two weeks to obtain all required approvals. Once processed, your license will be available on your dashboard. We encourage all of our Short Term Rental properties to be a Good Neighbor in our community.
Short-Term Rental Enforcement
The City partners with a local company to assist with the identification of short-term rentals and the enforcement of the ordinance.
Short-Term Rental Complaint
Complaints regarding short-term rentals should be brought to the attention of the Code Enforcement Officer for follow-up.
There are two ways you can report addresses that are potentially in violation:
Both reporting options are available 24 hours a day/seven days a week for neighbors to report non-emergency problems related to short-term rental properties. Complaints will be followed up by the Code Enforcement Officer.
