2026 Observed Holidays
The Public Works Office will be closed on the following dates. The Transfer Station is normally closed on Mondays, but will also be closed on the other holidays listed below. Please note: Curbside trash & recycling collection does not occur in South Portland on Mondays, so Monday holidays never affect our schedule. Notes about other holidays are in bold:

Monday, February 16 - Presidents’ Day
Monday, April 20 - Patriots’ Day
Monday, May 25 - Memorial Day
Friday, June 19 - Juneteenth
Friday, July 3 - Observed Independence Day
Monday, September 7 - Labor Day
Monday, October 12 - Indigenous Peoples Day
Wednesday, November - 11 Veterans Day
Thursday, November 26 - Thanksgiving Day Thursday trash & recycling will be collected on Friday, 11/27
Friday, November 27 - Day After Thanksgiving Friday trash & recycling will be collected on Saturday, 11/28
Friday, December 25 - Christmas Friday trash & recycling will be collected on Saturday, 12/26
