Business Financial Assistance Programs

Welcome!

South Portland's Economic Development Department is focused on supporting business growth and expansion.  Our goal is to improve programs and target resources toward the needs of the business community.  Businesses face many challenges in today's commercial climate.  We welcome the input of our business community to continue to tailor our programs to an ever changing world.  For inquiries or suggestions regarding any of our Programs, please contact the Economic Development Department by emailing Biz Support.

Economic Development Revolving Loan Program

The Revolving Loan Fund program is scheduled to launch in early 2026.  The intent of this program will be to focus on facade improvements and micro loans which can be used for qualifying working capital, technical assistance, and capital expenditures. The loans will promote the revitalization of commercial neighborhoods and encourage growth and expansion of new, aspiring and existing businesses.

EPA Brownfields Grants and Loans

For qualifying site, the City offers two programs: an Assessment Grant which pays for Phase I and Phase II costs and a Revolving Loan Fund for mitigation and clean up costs.  For more detailed information, visit our Brownfields Program Page.
