The City of South Portland invites South Portland Middle School and High School students to enter the "Our Future South Portland" Poetry Contest. We encourage students to imagine that South Portland is the very best city it could be in the year 2040. What is it like? Show your vision in a poem of 200 words or less. Poems should include ambitious but achievable ideas about the future. Poems may include ideas about community, the environment, housing and other topics that inspire. The writers of the two selected poems will win a $25 gift card to a local business and be published in the City's new Comprehensive Plan (currently underway). To enter, email your poem, name and grade by April 30, 2025 to Gretchen McCloy at mccloygr@spsdme.org.
