In South Portland, we have a distinctive mix of outdoor spaces, including wooded parks with ponds for fishing, great public access to the ocean, and many other day-use open spaces. Boaters have direct access to Portland Harbor with our public launch in Bug Light Park or the landing at Thomas Knight Park. Willard Beach is a popular destination all year long, and Wainwright Farms Recreation Complex boasts athletic fields and access to South Portland's Greenbelt walking trail. Overall, the Parks Division maintains over 350 acres of parks, trails, recreational facilities and coastline.

The Parks Division also oversees South Portland's Urban Forest by maintaining trees and shrubs growing in the City right-of-way as well as in public areas.
